Welcome to Amateur Equestrian Antics

I set up this blog up back in 2014 to share stories of my equestrian trials and tribulations. I had just started to event for the first time ever after a 10 year break from horses and wanted to document my journey for friends and family.

In that time I have achieved so much but still have so much further to go.

I have been supported and sponsored by some fantastic friends, trainers and businesses in this time and I have a new dedicated section of the site to tell you more about them all.

Woohoo - Lucas is back in action!

As everyone knows poor Lucas was injured in a field accident summer 2013, after 2 years of rest and rehab this week saw him make is Show Jumping come back!

We jumped a massive 60 and 70 cm class at a BS club show at Rockrose - got to start somewhere though!

He was a wee superstar, I was feeling horrible after picking up a stomach bug but was over the worse of it so decided to still go. I think Lucas must have felt sorry for me as he jumped the smoothest round in the 60cm which as you can see from our practice sessions is not like him! He was double clear and wonderfully picked up 2nd place. It was the smallest class we had ever jumped (even pre-injury) but I think it's right to start him small and build up confidence.

He got a littler wilder in the 70cm and I felt slightly sicker which wasn't a good combination. He only took one pole but he did reintroduce the crazy stage leaping which is not particularly desirable while getting over a stomach bug!

All in all I was super pleased with him. Jim Hunter was kindly taking photos so I will buy a couple and add them to this post.

Corky is also pleased Lucas is back in action as he enjoyed a show free weekend, generally eating, sleeping and covering himself in mud playing in the field. Happy boy!
